FFLORA

(Fluid Femme Luminaries Offering Rhapsodic Ascension). Formed in October 2020, FFLORA is a band and a rebellion. FFLORA identifies that the space of improvised music is often male-dominated and can be discouraging for women, femme and gender non-conforming artists. As such, FFLORA steps forward and activates a platform where these musicians can explore creative expression, be seen performing at a high level by the community and advocate for gender equality in the arts.

FFLORA is a place of musical exploration and expression, a real time journey into group improvisation. Central to the ethos of the group is providing a space where there is trust, creative freedom and connection. FFLORA open their arms to experienced and emerging musicians to connect people in the scene and provide a heart warming and enriching performance experience.

“FFLORA’s performance at MOFO 2021 was an uplifting celebration of spontaneous musical creation. They communicated with the audience in a free and engaging manner, working as a unit and shifting the focus imperceptibly between the various members in an organic way. I found it refreshing.”

MAKE SOME NOISE

MAKE SOME NOISE is a long form improvisation installation piece, taking place over seven hours. Over the duration of the performance, seven different ensembles perform hour long sets of improvised music. Ensembles cross over with their performances, creating a continuous flow of music.

MAKE SOME NOISE is active in bringing up the next generation of musicians, inviting in young artist (12-18 years old) to make up a part of each ensemble, performing alongside established musicians.

MAKE SOME NOISE is available for festival commission and will be featured in nipaluna/Hobart over January 2022.
